vacation Workouts, why?

Working Out While on Vacation



I went back to the gym today after taking a weeks vacation. The scale was off by 5 lbs…lol. I had every intention of working out while on vacay; I even took my workout clothes. I went to the fitness center at the resort we stayed in on the first day, and that was it! I never went back.


The fitness center had everything you need for a great workout, and was located right across the street from where we stayed. Still I could only bring myself to go only once in 5 days. I am usually very disciplined, getting up at 0430 on most days to workout.

Why is it different for me on vacations? For one thing, my mindset is different. On vacation I don’t usually keep any type of a schedule, and I stay up really late. Another issue for me is my diet. I eat a lot more and consume more alcohol while on vacation, which makes me a little sluggish.


However, the primary reason I don’t work out is because, I really need a break every once in a while. After working out the first day, I felt good, but I asked myself why? I paid good money for a vacation to enjoy it and relax. I usually play golf, but passed this time. I will definitely take my clubs in the future, because playing golf is as much exercise as I’m going to get.


I really admire and applaud those of you who can stick to your workout routines while on vacation. It takes a lot of discipline, and dedication to fitness to workout when you don’t have to, and there is temptation and distractions all around you. Maybe I will join you one day, but I am not there yet.
